Krav Maga is known for its effective hand combat techniques. Krav Maga hand striking techniques are optimally designed to take the position in hand and finish the fight as soon as possible. This is the reason that Krav Maga is preferred by the people who want to learn self-defense techniques. Krav Maga techniques are usually included the self-defense training programs because these techniques are precise and effective at the same time. The most effective hand striking techniques are discussed below.
Heel of the Palm Strike
Striking through heel of the open palm is as effective as punching with a fist. Hitting the softer parts of the face, head and throat with heel of the palm is a powerful tactics to counterattack. The strike to the nose or under the jaw with heel off balance the opponent and can easily disengage the attacker for a couple of minutes.
Hammer fist is another Krav Maga hand striking technique that can be easily accomplished by different angles. Hammer fist gives the opportunity to not only hitting the opponent while facing forward but also from the side. Hammer fist on the nose, back of the head or even right on the throat is enough for disorienting the attacker for several minutes.
A straight punch seems to be simple but in Krav Maga it is used as effectively as the other hand striking techniques. In Krav Maga it does not matter that where the punch is targeted, the main purpose is to hit the most volatile parts of the body to cause extreme pain and end the fight by any means. For the effective straight punches hit the head, nose, under the jaw, collar bone and right under the ribs.
Gauging the Eyes
In self-defense Krav Maga allows using the hand to hit the eyes as painfully as possible. Krav Maga self-defense techniques do not follow the rules. It is all about surviving when someone assaults you. Defending yourself is the key point and hitting the eyes with the open straight fingers is an excellent technique to not even stop the attacker but also blurring his/her vision giving enough window to run to a safe place and out of the reach of the aggressor.
Striking the Throat
Throat is one of the soft areas that is vulnerable to powerful strike. Unlike the eye strike the fingers should not be open. With straight fingers tightly together, quite a lot damage can be done while striking the throat. The strike with an arrow head shaped hand right in front of the throat will leave the assailant catching for breath for several minutes.
All these hand striking techniques are required to be executed with powerful blows to impact excruciating pain and disabling the attacker without losing time. The swiftness in the Krav Maga hand striking tactics need practicing and the proper training through Krav Maga certified instructor. The skills and rapid reflexes are needed in a self-defense scenario and this can be accomplished by constant training.
